2016 FinAccess geospatial mapping

January 15th, 2016

Between March and August of 2015, Brand Fusion in collaboration with the Central Bank of Kenya, the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and FSD Kenya, collected location data on 91,158  financial access points (including mobile money agents, bank agents, microfinance banks, SACCOs, microfinance institutions, hire purchase companies and others) and 27,684 agricultural institutions (including agro dealers, market locations, farmer organizations and cooperatives, warehouses, cattle dips and others).

Data was captured digitally and submitted in real time to a central database. All GPS data is within a margin of error of 15 meters in rural areas and 10 meters in urban areas.  Outlets in areas with no network coverage were captured as well.

Findings from this geospatial mapping exercise were released in the last quarter of 2015. You can access the presentation from the event here. You can also browse the data interactively at fspmaps.com
