SUMMARY
This report examines data from Financial Diaries studies conducted in both Kenya and South Africa in 2012 and 2013 to better understand the extent to which low-income consumers are being affected by broad trends towards the digitization of payments: through card payments in an increasingly banked population in South Africa and via mobile money in Kenya.
