Awareness Workshop - WE Finance Code Kenya Chapter

August 19th, 2025

WE Finance Code Kenya Chapter invites you to the awareness workshop for the introduction of the WE Finance Code Kenya Chapter, a pivotal event to accelerate women’s financial access for the Women Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (WMSMEs) in Kenya.

This workshop, organised by the WE Finance Code Kenya Working Group, is a critical step toward the official launch of the WE Finance Code Kenya Chapter in October 2025.

Purpose and objectives

The WE Finance Code is a global initiative by the World Bank to drive systemic reforms through leadership, data interpretation and taking action for women’s access to finance. This workshop aims to:

  • Raise awareness about the principles, objectives, and transformative potential of the WE Finance Code for Kenya and your organisation.
  • Encourage stakeholder commitment to support the adoption and implementation of the WE Finance Code in Kenya, aligning with various strategies, including the forthcoming National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS).
  • Equip organisations and individuals to cascade knowledge to WMSMEs ecosystem partners
  • Build momentum for the WE Finance Code, Kenya Chapter October 2025 launch.

Why Attend?

Women constitute half of Kenya’s population and are vital to economic growth, yet WMSMEs face significant barriers to finance. The WE Finance Code promotes leadership accountability, gender-disaggregated data, inclusive solution design, and policy reform to unlock this potential. Your participation will help shape a more inclusive financial ecosystem, driving economic resilience and growth.

Workshop Highlights

Morning Session: Opening remarks, keynote addresses, demonstration and showcasing global examples of the WE Finance Code implementation and a panel discussion on localising the WE Finance Code

Afternoon Session: A panel on leveraging gender-disaggregated CRB data, interactive breakout sessions on data, policy, product innovation, and collaborations, followed by a call to action.

Networking Opportunities: Connect with leaders from financial institutions, government, development partners, and women’s business associations.
