Rashmi Pillai is the Chief Executive Officer of FSD Kenya, bringing over two decades of leadership experience in financial inclusion, market systems development, and public policy across Africa and South Asia. Rashmi previously served as CEO of Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU), where she led the organisation through a period of significant growth and strategic expansion. Her career spans work with leading global and regional institutions, including CGAP (World Bank), where she worked across financial sector policy, payments, regulation, and climate resilience, with a focus on rural women in agriculture, and Wave Mobile Money, where she served as Anglophone Head of Public Policy across multiple African markets. She also founded the Sankalp Forum in India — Asia's largest impact investment platform — which she subsequently expanded to Southeast Asia and East Africa. Rashmi holds a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. At FSD Kenya, she is focused on deepening financial markets that work for women, youth, and underserved communities, and on building the market systems and climate finance pathways that can deliver sustainable, dignified livelihoods at scale.
