Mugwe is an accomplished expert in green finance, renewable energy, and carbon asset development, with over 15 years of experience in founding and scaling enterprises.Mugwe began his career at Goldman Sachs International in London in Private Wealth Management (PWM). Previously, he held the role of Special Advisor on Power and Climate in the Vice President’s Office at The Rockefeller Foundation, Africa Regional Office, where he played a pivotal role in shaping power and climate-related policies and initiatives.He also serves as an independent board member at ICEA Lion Insurance Group and is a former board member of VisionFund Kenya, the microfinance arm of World Vision.Mugwe's leadership is demonstrated through his founding role at Olsuswa Energy Limited, a private greenfield geothermal company in Kenya, which achieved recognition among the top 50 firms in the Future Shapers ELITE network at the London Stock Exchange (LSE) in 2020, highlighting his ability to drive business success. Through his book The Energy Future of Africa, he offers insights into opportunities and challenges in the African energy, green hydrogen and carbon credit sectors, drawing from his experience in navigating regulatory complexities and stakeholder management on the continent. Mugwe holds a Certificate in Organisational Leadership from Harvard Business School, a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham, a Master’s degree in International Business from Grenoble Ecole de Management and a Diploma from the Swedish Institute Management Program (SIMP) with a focus on sustainability.Mugwe is a Business Daily Africa Top 40 Under 40 achiever of 2022 and a Tutu Fellow Class of 2023.
