Peter serves as a Trustee to FSD Kenya Trust. He is a development economist/financial consultant with experience in grant management and development consulting. He has been a director at BDO East Africa since October 2007 and is presently the grant management services director. He has led several donor-funded assignments that entail the development of grant accounting, budgeting and reporting frameworks as well as institutional hosting and grantee capacity-building processes. He has led regional programme management teams in the structuring of grant budgets, treasury management operations, verification exercises, procurement support, recruitment and staffing as well as in the development of internal controls and procedures. Mr Githongo has previously been on the local advisory committee of Acumen East Africa and was a founder-steering committee member of the East African Business Summit; a regional platform that brought together the region’s top 100 business leaders in a public private policy forum. Mr Githongo has been an op-ed contributor with several local publications on topics in economics, public policy on finance and development and has been a producer jointly with Nation Media Group and PWC on two 8-episode regional business/economics television programmes that were broadcast across Africa. Mr Githongo is also a past Chairman of Kenya SchoolNET a non-profit NGO dedicated to the promotion of ICTs in education.
