Launch event - OECD peer review report on competition law in Kenya

March 19th, 2026

On Tuesday 17 March 2026, FSD Kenya Chief Executive Officer Rashmi Pillai delivered remarks at the launch of the OECD Peer Review of Competition Law and Policy in Kenya.

Speaking at the event held in Nairobi, alongside the National Treasury, the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) and the OECD, she welcomed the review as an evidence-based assessment of Kenya’s competition framework and a prompt for concerted reform. She also set out why competitive markets matter for Kenya’s broader economic ambitions — from mobilising private investment to deepening financial inclusion — and identified three priorities for action: building a shared reform roadmap, strengthening coordination between the CAK and financial sector regulators, and applying a sharper competition lens in agriculture, MSMEs, digital platforms and public procurement.
