The Usemi tracker is a telephone based omnibus survey that uses a probabilistic panel in Kenya allowing for more representative results compared to standard telephone surveys. FSD Kenya got involved in it immediately after the onset of COVID-19 and so far 3 rounds have been done with more expected to run up to the end of December 2021.
The surveys will provide a peek into the impact of COVID-19 on the financial lives of Kenyans over time, look at changes in their income, what they are doing to meet their daily needs, loan uptake and managing repayments, challenges business owners are facing and how they are managing, mobile money experience – float, consumer protection challenges and support received to tackle COVID-19. Ownership of smartphones over the period is also being tracked.
A probability sampling method is any method of sampling that utilizes some form of random selection. In order to have a random selection method, you must set up some process or procedure that assures that the different units in your population have equal probabilities of being chosen.
