The
FinAccess study, a nationally representative
survey on access to financial services in
Kenya offers a rare opportunity to understand
how Kenyans use a range of financial services,
from bank accounts to informal groups.
FinAccess was successfully launched in June
2009 to a wide audience spanning government
ministries, donor agencies, financial service
providers and research institutes. A brochure
of the top-line findings was produced.
Over the next few months, the focus will be
on making the FinAccess data more widely usable
by players in the financial sector. Activities
already planned by the Financial Access Partnership,
with support from FSD Kenya, include publication
of detailed reports on the data, further research,
workshops, technical training and briefings.
The aim is to make the survey as useful as
possible to the sector.
If you have specific questions which you think
the survey data could answer then let us know
and we’ll try to see how we can address
them. In general, during this early phase
of the FinAccess we will undertake this work
free of charge provided that the results can
be disseminated to a wider audience. If confidential
analysis is required and the outputs proprietary,
then there will be a charge and we would be
pleased to discuss this with you.
